After years of wanting to try lobstering I finally sent in for a 10 pot license and I am going to try my luck at outsmarting them. I purchased 10 used traps, 1200 feet of rope, buoys, and a bunch of little necessities needed to lobster. I finally dropped the traps in the water today (July 6, 2003) and hope to check them Tuesday after I get home from work... An update will follow....

Bringing the traps out. To get them ready buoys were painted, tied to 40' of rope, bridles (the piece rope tied to the trap) redone, with a little help from Milt, and attached to the line with the buoys, and license tags attached to the traps. |
| The bait and bait bags. Mackerel was todays bait of choice, I stocked up earlier in the year while going fishing with Chris (click here to see Chris...) | ![]() |

Then we have Joe... I've never met anyone who fits the stereotype of a New England fisherman better than him... |
| The Mackerel seemed to fit in the bags better if they were cut in half. | ![]() |

Throwing out another trap. I am not sure of the weight but I would guess it to be at least 40 pounds... I will check and update with an accurate weight later..... |
| Buzzy, the amazing photographer, catches the trap mid-air... Hard to do with the cheap digital camera we were using..... | ![]() |

The last trap going down..... It will definitely be harder pulling them up.... |
