Days 9 and 10 Pacifica to Eureka

Jillians cute surfer boy....
We slept in, then walked around the area, and found a little coffee shop that was open. After some dry coffee cake by yet another 1960’s hippie throwback, we went back to the room to pack things up and get on our way. This is when things started to get a little bit ugly for Ans… After barely making it to San Francisco (about 15 miles), and what we determined was most likely food poisoning from last nights meal, we ended up on a side street where the effect was in full swing. After a 30 minute stop we tried again, only to get two blocks down and to yet another side street, this time she didn’t make it off the bike before the puking began (sorry, no camera was handy…)… We crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and a few miles on the other side I left her in the bushes at a gas station while I tried to get a room down the street. Needless to say, a majority of Day 9 was spent with Ans trying to recover and I went out to explore Mill Valley for a bit. It ended up being a very relaxing day for me which gave me a chance to rest.
The next morning all was better and we were off by 7:30. This day was by
far the most challenging driving of all we had encountered so far. The first
two hours were very low speed turns and were combined with 50 degree temperatures
and foggy conditions. Early in the afternoon there was a 22 mile stretch of
nonstop twists and turns which had Ans getting a bit of motion sickness ¾
of the way through. We stopped for about 20 minutes and then thing returned
to normal. After this we entered the Avenue of Giants and drove thought the
redwoods for about an hour or so. We then made our way back to the coast and
called it a night in Eureka.
